Volume 3 Issue 11

The boys start off with yet another celebrity death. Lou Scheimer who co-founded Filmation and was responsible for some of Brian’s favorite cartoons of the 80’s has passed away. They move into a ton of rumors, both casting and remakes. Of course, there are the reboot rumors as well. No surprise there. The networks have announced some shake-ups on TV and some cancellations. Find out what Jacob thinks on this issue of the Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal.

Volume 3 Issue 10

Jacob calls an audible to start the show before Brian begins his weekly read through of the notes. This week they kick things off with some Marvel news and rumors, as there have been a lot again lately. Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and the new Marvel TV lineup all get a mention. Some cool stuff happened at NYCC this year, and the boys touch on a couple of the finer points. Charlie Hunnam has made the best decision of his career, and The Walking Dead had a HUGE season premiere. Adam Green is up to his Halloween shenanigans again, and Jacob might be in love. All this and a special segment about Anthony Hopkins fan-girling over Breaking Bad.

Volume 3 Issue 8

The boys start off with a court session and then head into box office news before really getting into the show and talking about some sequels and the state of DC movies. Garfunkel and Oates have been signed to create a show for IFC, and both Brian and Jacob are a little too happy.

The guys spend a lot of time on JJ Abrams revelations and what is in store in the Marvel Universe. They close out the show with some shameless self-promotion. So you know, the same way they close out every show.

Jacob Reviews "Much Ado About Nothing"

Most of the time it's action, horror, or sci-fi that is reviewed for The Gorram Nerd Hour, but Jacob couldn't help himself with Joss Whedon's new adaptation of a classic Shakespeare play filled with Whedon regulars from all of his former TV series. So what did Jacob think of the movie? Listen and find out.

Volume 3 Issue 7

It's that time again, boys and girls, a time of wonder and amusement and lots of fucks. That's right, The Gorram Nerd Hour is back!

The Emmys went down without a hitch this weekend, and Breaking Bad was a big winner. So was Modern Family, but Jacob seems a little confused by this. Burn Notice and Dexter finished their respective runs, and Jacob was a little disappointed. A new cast member has been announced for Sleepy Hollow, and both of the boys seem a little too happy about it. Troll Hunter is getting an American remake, and let’s just say that Brian and Jacob could be happier. The Carrie remake is just around the corner, but Brian is a little confused as to why she is considered a “Horror Icon.” The new Flash is pandering already, and he hasn’t even gotten any screen time. All this and more on this issue of The Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal.

Jacob Reviews "Bad Milo"

Bad Milo - a man has a creature living in his ass that likes to come out and kill people. Sounds like a Troma production. But the execution was far from it. Filled with a great cast and very bizarre premise it could either be good or bad. Which side of the fence did Jacob fall on? Listen and find out.

Volume 3 Issue 6

The boys bury the top story yet again, but we’ll start with it first in the synopsis: Justin Bieber and Batman vs. Superman. What has the world come to when this is a believable rumor? Avatard 2 might have its new villain. Maybe. Lucas Black and the Fast and Furious franchise? James Wan has bitten the hand that has feed him for so long. AMC has announced two new spin-off shows. The new show Sleepy Hollow premiered, and Jacob has some thoughts on it. The guys finish the show with a couple stories from Jacob and his adventures driving a cab. But of course they don’t forget about some shameless self promotion as their first movie, Death by VHS was released for public consumption on Tuesday.

Over the years, Chucky has been a character that people identify with horror in the same way as Freddy, Jason and Michael. He is an icon of horror movies. Does he deserve to be? Volume 3 Issue 5

The boys start the episode with an audible and then get into some crazy news form the Czech Republic. Thanks for that, Evolution Films. Ant-Man has a new release date and it’s sooner than we thought. Ian McKellen married Patrick Stewart over the weekend (yes you read that right). Pippi Longstocking does indeed have a sex tape, and it will have distribution soon. And porn stars are into some kinky things, but HIV isn’t one of them. Michael J. Fox is coming out of retirement with his new show and has a pretty decent list of costars along for the ride. After Erf was a bomb, but that hasn’t stopped Will Smith from talking about new projects. All this and more on this issue of The Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal.

Jacob Reviews "The Man With Two Brains"

When Jacob was a boy, there was nothing he loved more than playing with his G.I. Joe action figures, watching horror movies and the films of Chevy Chase and Steve Martin. Today Jacob reviews the 1983 film "The Man With Two Brains" starring Martin. It's a film about a brain surgeon, his evil wife and a brain in a jar.

Does this movie hold up now that Jacob is an adult? Listen and find out with special intro and outro music by Mr. Steve Martin himself.

Volume 3 Issue 4

This week the guys start with, wait for it… More remake news! Yeah! They then review Jim Carrey’s career, and he is judged to be left wanting. Fast and Furious 7 has yet another casting announcement, and so does FanFicty Shades of Grey! A movie finished in 5th place this past weekend at the box office, and neither Jacob or Brian had ever heard of it. Have you?

Who is Rocket Raccoon? The boys get to tell you if you’ve been living under a rock for the last week. Movie Jail makes its return this week as well.

Jacob Reviews "R.I.P.D."

Jacob has seen his fair share of bad movies. He even sat through Ankle Biters, a movie about midget vampires. So it's a very special day when a big budget movie comes along with an A list cast not directed by Roland Emerich that he would say he loathed. That day has come. Go listen for yourself.

Volume 3 Issue 3

The boys kick things off with a couple follow up stories from the past couple weeks before moving into this week’s news. Of course they talk about BatFleck and the new Bourne rumblings, but the news that Brian is most excited about, well, you’ll have to listen to find out.

Lots of stuff about Breaking Bad and its crew has come to light. Judd Apatow has a new movie in the works, but he isn’t directing or penning the script. There is a new cast member for Fast and Furious 6 or 7 or 8, we don’t remember.

And the boys end the show with an interview with AZ Power Girl about a couple of conventions coming up in the not too distant future.

Jacob Reviews "White House Down"

Do you like Die Hard? Do you like it when the White House gets blown up? Don't answer that second question, or you'll get put on a watch list. Do you like movies that think they can do Die Hard better than Steven Seagal did with Under Siege? If so, then this movie is for you!

If watching a movie that rips off everything you used to love about action movies and does a cut and paste style script doesn't appeal to you (and it shouldn't), then skip it.

If you're still interested in knowing more, then listen to Jacob's review of Turd Sandwich... ur, I mean White House Down.

Volume 3 Issue 2

The boys start the show with a little bit of narcissism. But what else have we come to expect? Anyway, into the meat and potatoes of the show, lots of movie news including casting for Guardians of the Galaxy.

What is going on with the release date for Star Wars, and why are strange and mysterious trailers for a new Bad Robot movie showing up? Yeah! A sequel to The Conjuring! And a remake of Ben-Hur! And more Riddick! And gourmet coffee! Wait, what?

Jacob Reviews "Evil Dead" (2013)

Evil Dead, as a trilogy, is something Jacob has always held sacred. Volume 3 Issue 1

Welcome to Volume 3 of the Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal!

Fifth Bourne movie? Sharknado 2? Raven Symone? Oscar news? Avatar? All this movie news and the boys go on more rants than Dennis Miller when he was funny.

Why on Earth are we getting more remakes? At least this one has the original creators helping. Superman/Batman rumors are already running rampant, and the movie isn’t even written yet. Who is going to be cast as the new Batman? Are the rumors about the Fantastic Four reboot true? For Brian’s sake let’s hope not, Jacob might actually kill him.

Speaking of Jacob, he finally started watching Breaking Bad, and it has not disappointed. All this and more on this, the first issue of Volume 3 of the Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal from Abnormal Entertainment.

Jacob Reviews The Unreleased "Fantastic Four" From 1994

Twentieth Century Fox has had the rights to Fantastic Four for years. It's no secret they mismanaged the franchise. That's why they're rebooting already. But back in 1994, Roger Corman's production company owned the rights. They were about to lapse and they had to get a movie into production immediately to ensure they didn't lose them.

Rather than make a proper movie, Corman's company chose to make something they never intended to release. They didn't tell the cast that, of course. The results were... well, we don't want to spoil the surprise. Just listen to Jacob's review.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 14 - Into Dorkness

Jacob and Isaac have returned from their self-imposed hiatus to discuss more Star Trek. This time their target is Star Trek Into Darkness. They waited long enough to record that they feel it's safe to spoil plot points of the movie... and a major one comes two minutes in, so be warned. They also discuss Star Trek Continues, Of Gods And Men, Renegades and they get off topic from time to time and end up talking about whatever popped up.

Jacob Reviews "Jug Face"

Not too long ago, Jacob had the chance to talk to both producer Andrew Van Den Houten and actor Daniel Manche about Jug Face and other projects. So it was only fitting Jacob should finally get to review the movie.

Jug Face is the story of a backwoods cult who worship a pit in the ground. When the pit requires a sacrifice, a mentally challenged man sculpts the victim's face on a jug.

This doesn't sound like a good movie from what I described. but it's not about about the pit. It's about the people. Hear what Jacob has to say about it.

Volume 2 Issue 30 - This is the End

When we last left the Dynamic Duo, they were both lamenting about the lack of new material for the show. Will this week fare any better for the Trained Monkey and Mr. Rapey Face?

The Box Office report makes Jacob angry, and you don’t want to see him when he is angry. Actually this episode has Jacob angry through almost the entire thing, and Brian laments on how rare it is to actually hear Jacob laugh.

In movie news, Diablo Cody, 20th Century Fox, JJ Abrams, Eddie Murphy, and Butterfly Effect all get mentions. TV brings us Star Trek: TNG and the release of the 4th season on BluRay release as well as a new segment that Jacob has called “Hollywood Is Nuts!” And Jacob brings back the “Movies I hate but the general public adores” segment.

What Do You Want? How About A Guest Spot On The Show?

Hello again,

Long time no type. Well, maybe not too long. I don't know. My barometer for telling time sucks. In fact I thought it was Friday until someone posted how much they hated Mondays on Facebook. At first I thought "That's on odd thing to post on a Friday. Why not wait until Mo...Oh."

The reason I have chosen to write you all today is simple. We want to know what you want from our show. We love doing it. But, even more, we love keeping it fresh. Back in Volume 2 Issue 5 we were joined by David Sabal from The Atomic Fallout Society for a segment called Bad Impression Theater. We loved doing that. In fact, we are planning another one. We love doing things like that. And we want your suggestions.

Do you enjoy us talking about entertainment news? Sometime we get a little bored with it. It's the same stuff every week. New Star Wars rumors, new Star Trek news, what did the idiot celebrity do this week? The list goes on. Sure, we enjoy it. I scour the internet every week for stories to fill in the notes. I'd be doing it with or without the show. But we would like to introduce more segments. Movies The World Loves But We Hate could be a fun recurring segment. But we need more.

Here's what I propose to you all. Whoever comes up with a new segment for the show that Brian and I both agree is best we will invite you on where we will not only have you participate in Bad Impression Theater but we will do the new segment you came up with for the first time with you. We want to hear your feedback. We appreciate you all listening as we approach one year of episodes. Now let us give back as we steal your idea for a pittance. Send all ideas to gorrampodcast@gmail.com

Your Friend And Mine,

Jacob O'Neal

P.S. - If you want to be on the show you must either be local or have a phone. We will not provide airfare. We're podcasters.

Jacob Reviews "Star Trek Continues"

Vic Mignogna, best known for his anime voice work in Bleach and Naruto, takes on the iconic role of Captain Kirk while continuing the original Star Trek series on as if it got a fourth season. He assembles a group of recognizable names together and begins a new season of Star Trek. Does it work? You're about to hear Jacob's opinion on it.

Volume 2 Issue 29

Dennis Farina has passed away, and it seems that every week the guys are commiserating another celebrity passing.

Joss Whedon has told us that there will be no Hank Pym in the new Age of Ultron movie. What?!

12 Monkeys is coming to the small screen, and all Jacob can ask is “Why?”

The new Freddie Mercury biopic looks like a reality, but Sasha Baron Cohen won’t be playing the frontman of the legendary band Queen. Brian is thanking the rock gods right now.

A Fight Club sequel? Sure, why the fuck not? Oh, the boys know why not. It’s going to be TERRIBLE!

Shortlist.com brings us another Top 10 list, but this time from the minds of none other than Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

And it looks like there’s going to be about another 50 years of Supernatural. Jacob is not pleased.

SDCC was this past weekend, and the biggest news was definitely the Batman/Superman movie. Brian seemed more pleased than Jacob, but of course it isn’t coming out until 2015, so LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!

To finish off the show this week, Jacob gives you 10 minutes of his interview with actor Bill Oberst Jr., from such work as Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies and Take This Lollipop. The full conversation will be available on Friday.

Jacob Reviews "Odd Thomas"

There are certain directors Jacob really doesn't like - Uwe Boll, Renny Harlin, Michael Bay and too many more to list. He's never been a fan of director Stephen Sommers. Does Odd Thomas sway his opinion? Or does Jacob add him to the list?

The movie stars Anton Yelchin, Willam Dafoe, Addison Tamblin and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and based on a novel by Dean R. Koontz. Will this film be better than Phantoms, or will it fall even further down into Corey Haim depths like Watchers? (You thought I was gonna make some kind of tasteless death joke about Corey Haim, didn't you?)

Volume 2 Issue 28

The boys both like to make fun of Glee, but not today. Sadness struck the other day when news of Corey Monteith's death in Canada surfaced. He was only 31.

It seems that the Pom Far is affecting Zach Quinto’s brain, and his claims about the next installment of Star Trek may be a little off.

What the hell is a Sharknado?

Weekend box office was a little sad this past weekend. Despicable Me 2 took the #1 spot once again, which is fine. It's a family film. Fine. We get it. But Grown Ups 2 was #2 forcing Pacific Rim to the #3 slot.

With the Cornetto trilogy coming to a close, Edgar Wright is all ready to start on Ant Man!

Kanye West is an idiot, and SDCC is right around the corner. What more could you ask for?

espressogossip.com has a list of movie posters doctored to show the original actors cast before the change. Go look that the list. It's worth it.

Jacob brings you a new segment to end the show, and Brian calls him out for his inability to fill time.

All this and a whole lot more on this episode of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

Check Out Jacob's New Show - The Science Of Fiction

Hello there everyone,

Jacob here. Isaac Hulke and I had a lot of fun doing the Gorram spin-off show Holodeck Malfunction. That was a limited series of thirteen episodes. There may actually be more to come in the future where we talk in detail about Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Continues. But, for now, we have decided to bring you a new show called The Science Of Fiction.

The idea behind the show was simple. We wanted to discuss famous works of Science Fiction, their authors, movies and whatever else. What many of these people have posited over the years has become less fiction and more science. With cloning now a reality, cell phones being common place, robots being used in every day life this seemed like a show worth making.

In the future we will be discussing such ideas as cloning, teleportation, time travel and much more. But we also want to hear your thoughts on what we should be talking about. Let us know what you think. We'd love to hear from you on the subject. You can send the suggestions to our new Facebook page http://facebook.com/SciFiPod or email us at gorrampodcast@gmail.com

Thank you everyone. Hugs and kisses to you all.

Love,

Jacob

Jacob Reviews Asylum's "Atlantic Rim"

It was only fitting that Asylum would release a new mockbuster called Atlantic Rim right before Guillermo Del Toro unleashes his Pacific Rim to the world. This mockbuster stars the likes of David Chokachi from Baywatch, Treach from Naughty By Nature and Graham Greene from Dances With Wolves. Give Jacob's review a listen. And if you choose to watch Atlantic Rim, rest assured that even if Pacific Rim sucks, it'll be 1000x better than this.

Jacob Reviews "Sharknado"

Sharknado, a SyFy original movie about sharks flying around inside tornadoes to attack people on land stars Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills, 90210), Tara Reid (American Pie) and John Heard (C.H.U.D.). Need we say more? Jacob watches it so you don't have to.

Volume 2 Issue 27

When last we left our intrepid Gorram heroes, Brian was complaining about Jacob's creepy notes, and Jacob blamed it on nearly suffering heat stroke from sitting in the blazing sun for two weeks straight. Will this week fair better for The King Of Fuck and Captain Creepy? Stay tuned to find out.

What the hell is wrong with Eddie Murphy? Kevin Smith and Ryan Reynolds have projects on the horizon (maybe), and it leads into a talk about Idiocracy. Stallone’s new project is one of Brian favorites, and he and Jacob have a little bit to say about that. It’s a Celebrity Douchebag list!

The boys did have to cut the show short as Brian had to play daddy for his daughter, and she didn’t want to be on the show, but they do talk a little about their upcoming projects and a favorable review for Lepus!

Jacob Reviews "Night Of The Demons (2009)"

As promised, Jacob begins doing mini-Gorram episodes. These are where you are going to find movie reviews, because Brian doesn't like to watch the ones Jacob picks.

This week, he talks about the remake of Night Of The Demons from 2009 starring Shannon Elizabeth, Edward Furlong and Monica Keena with a special appearance by Linnea Quigley from the original.

Volume 2 Issue 26

The boys are back with your weekly dose of all things geek, and they start off the show in remembrance of Jim Kelly and James Gandolfini. They move on to the rumor mill and Hellboy 3.

ID4EVER garners a mention, and Brian doesn’t seem too happy about it. Jacob complains about the action (or lack thereof) in The Walking Dead TV show and what he thinks will happen in Season 4.

Stan Lee made some comments about Marvel Movies, and there may be some truth to it. Oh yeah, and Christian Bale says he won’t be Batman anymore! (Again.)

Jacob’s notes this week were tainted by the heat, and his jokes about the weekly box office numbers show it. He also gives you a ton of horrible puns when he talks about Bond, James Bond. We get an insight into the twisted, perverted sexual fantasies of Mr. O’Neal as well.

Digital comics and 80’s television favorites! What could possibly go wrong??!!!

The Gorram Nerd Hour has a public service announcement for Thora Birch. Ms. Birch, please, please, please take us at our word.

Volume 2 Issue 25

RIP Richard Matheson.

The boys are joined this week by their fearless leader, Kevin Moyers, and they kick things off right by talking crazy celebrity baby names. Thank you, Kanye and the Devil.

Jim Carrey isn’t man enough to put his money where his mouth is, but boy does that mouth talk a lot. Granted, he can’t put his money up any longer as the budget for the new Dumb and Dumber movie was revealed, and it’s about the same as what he was paid for his role in the first one.

World War Z lost the box office race to a prequel from Pixar, and the boys lament at what the Z-word used to mean. Also, the Governator has decided to go down the rabbit hole and star in his own zombie movie (sort of). Downey Jr. made headlines as well as he has signed on to be in the next two installments of the Avengers franchise.

Disney may have hit it out of the park with the new Pixar movie, but the live action Cinderella looks to leave a little to be desired.

The guys end the show after discussing who would make a good Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2 and a couple of stories from Brian about his trip to Vegas.

Time To Mix Things Up - New Changes

For those of you who are regular listeners to the show, you've probably noticed that there has been a lack of movie reviews lately. There's a reason for that. Brian and I both do multiple shows and work regular jobs. Time is limited  when it comes down to actually sitting down and watching these B movies I have such an affection for.

We came up with a solution - as much as I live to make Brian suffer I will no longer be making him watch films like Nazis At The Center Of The Earth. Instead I will be recording weekly supplemental episodes no longer than 10 minutes where I will be reviewing bad movies, indie movies, horror and science fiction movies, etc...

I already have a list of films I have recently watched that I have been holding onto until the time was right. This will be starting very soon. You will be able to find them under The Gorram Nerd Hour banner just like the regular show, Holodeck Malfunction and the Drunken Commentary as well as some other stuff in the planning stages.

If you haven't gotten distracted by something shiny yet and stopped reading I would like to  mention a few other things -
1) Lepus, the short film I co-wrote with Brian and directed will be released on DVD September 19th, 2013 on the Death By VHS anthology DVD.
2) We a couple of road trips scheduled. First to Ventura, California in September to podcast and interview guests at the Central Coast Comic Con (C4). Then we will be at Rapture Horror Expo in October and Comikaze.
3) We have a few other movie projects in the works, some can be discussed and others not yet. We are planning to make Lepus into a full length feature. If you happened to catch it at Phoenix Conicon you know we made a 15 minute feature with a full three act structure already. Now we're just expanding on the building blocks we already put in place.
4) Cinema Head Cheese recently celebrated their 100th episode. In it one of their writers told the listeners to interact with us. We are very approachable...as long as you don't do the creepy Edward watching Bella sleep thing. That's just messed up but I guess girls like pasty old stalkers that would just as soon kill them as they would kiss them.
Side note - ladies,  I'm not over 100 but I can do creepy and I'm single. Just don't be a mouth breathing whore void of personality like Bella.
Sorry, the blog got away from me for second.
We will keep you posted on all of these things and more. Just listen to the show.
Your friend and mine,
Jacob O'Neal

Volume 2 Issue 24

The boys were going to start with a review of The Complex starring an Adam Green look-alike and a chesty young lady, but that was trumped by the saddening news of the passing of James Gandolfini. They take a moment to reflect on the 51-year-old actor's career and mourn in their own way.

They follow up the review with some super hero movie news and the projections of Steven Spielberg in regards to the nature of the movie going experience in the years to come.

Ryan Reynolds is out as the next Highlander, and Jacob thinks this movie franchise may go the way of The Crow; a lot of talk and rumors, but no actual product.

Volume 2 Issue 23

The boys start with a review of In The Devil's Courthouse, a DVD that was personally handed to them at Phoenix Comicon by the Director.

Next up is the news. Hercules and Frankenstein are getting new retellings, and the boys have some choice words for Hollywood. Cusack and Jane are teaming up, and it might all be roses or it could be shit. The boys aren’t sure which to vote for yet. Amazing Spider-Man 2 has yet another villain, and it looks like Sony hasn’t learned anything from Spider-Man 3.

The Man of Steel is right around the corner, and Brian can barely contain his excitement. Jacob wants to take a road trip to Detroit, and Brian is scared for his safety.

The Purge surprised at the box office this weekend, and Hollywood is confused. A movie about a DotCom that didn’t do well in theaters? Yeah, it isn’t 1999 anymore.

Dr. Who fans will love the next little bit, and the boys finish with good news about Paul Walker?
You’ll have to listen to find out.

Volume 2 Issue 22

The boys start off with the TV news, and there are some strange things brewing in TV Land. What’s the newest from the world of Community? What is going on with Doctor Who? Why the hell doesn’t SyFy run science fiction entertainment anymore? What ever happened to space in Sci-Fi programming?

Movie news brings us some of Brian’s favorite topics (not really). Expendables 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, and James Bond all have new casting announcements. After Erf, as Jacob calls it, bombed at the box office, and no one was surprised. Blade Runner 2 is a thing.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 13 - Welcome To The Multiverse

In the final Official episode of Holodeck Malfunction, Jacob and Isaac discuss the 2009 reboot of the Star Trek franchise. They go into each character and the new actors playing them, discuss the ideas of branching timelines, Libyans and plutonium, farting through time and whatever else comes up.

This closes the chapter on Holodeck Malfunction proper. But if you want more, we may be back after awhile with occasional interviews or even a show here and there.
