Drunken Gorram Commentary: Masters Of The Universe Post Movie Wrap Up

After sitting through the terrible Masters Of The Universe, Jacob and Steve decided to keep talking. Listen to them talk about everything from Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Canon Films, Superman IV, Jacob's crush on Meg Foster, Betsy Rue naked, and anything else that comes across their slowly sobering minds.

Drunken Gorram Commentary: Masters Of The Universe

Masters Of The Universe - starring Dolph Lundgren, Meg Foster, Billy Barty, Robert Duncan McNeil, Courtney Cox and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Jacob and his friend Steve Mayo sat down to watch Masters Of The Universe with a few drinks and recorded the whole thing for you. What happened? Well, they don't remember. But there were no racial slurs. Listen to them talk about how eerily similar the wormhole effects are to the 1995 series Sliders.

Play along at home and drink every time Jacob uses the word "Douche" or talks directly to Meg Foster while watching the movie. Listen to Steve tell an uncomfortable story about a broken pelvis. Hell, anything they talk about is better than the dialogue in this movie that marked the beginning of the end for Canon Films. Stay tuned for the post movie wrap up with Jacob and Steve.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 8 - 23rd Century Economics

It's time to talk about Star Trek 3 and 4, the films directed by Leonard Nimoy. In the episode, Jacob and Isaac talk about the death of Kirk's son on screen and off, flying dolphins, the problems with not having money in the future, shooting Star Trek in a garage, AIDS and a second hand story about being on location in San Francisco during Star Trek IV. The guys get distracted from time to time but never stop having fun with what they talk about - selling iPods for drugs, the Dolphin/Whale war and why the crew of Enterprise was always set up for failure.

The Gorram Interview Extravaganza

Jacob has been hard at work recently to get interviews with interesting people he thinks you need to know about.

Recently, Jacob had the chance to talk to Ryan Ondriezek and Chris Ambrosio about everything from Ryan's documentary about singer Levi Weaver to how they turned their obsession with Taco Bell into a series of comedic internet shorts called TB Gyde. You can find them on Facebook here - www.facebook.com/TBGyde. They also talked about a new documentary they're both working on called Finding Home.

Jessica Cameron is a favorite of The Gorram Nerd Hour. She was one of the very first guests we've ever had on the show way back in Vol. 1 Issue 3. She is making her directorial debut with a film called Truth Or Dare starring Devanny Pinn, Heather Dorff and herself. She talks to Jacob about being a female director in the Horror genre, playing an American icon and a lot more. Visit the Truth Or Dare Facebook page here - www.facebook.com/TruthOrDareTheMovie

You can also contribute to the film through IndieGoGo - http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/truth-or-dare--2

Andrew van den Houten is a producer and director. His credits include HeadSpace, Offspring, Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door, The Woman and the upcoming feature Jug Face. He is the founder and president of Modern Cine, a production company specializing in hard hitting and thought provoking genre entertainment. He talks to Jacob about why he makes the types of films he does, what is coming up next for fan favorite director Lucky McKee, and so much more. You can find out more about all his projects at - http://www.moderncine.com

A Very Gorram Comicon

Hey guys,

Jacob here. I don't use this blog much as I have one that I started before we ever even dreamed up The Gorram Nerd Hour. You can find that HERE. I wanted to talk a little about what we're doing next month. As many of our listeners know we will be at Phoenix Comicon making fools of ourselves live on Memorial Day Weekend. Nearly everyone from Abnormal Entertainment will be there. We are combining our shows to fit them into the slots (you can take that dirty or or not, I don't care). The Gorram Nerd Hour will be partnered with Cinema Head Cheese. That's pretty fitting I would say. And maybe we keep Jeff Doniak away from the booze this time.

Something else that is happening at Phoenix Comicon is the premiere of Lepus, the short I directed and Brian starred in. We both wrote it. Most of the marketing of the DVD for Death By VHS (the anthology it's a part of) has been promoting the Lepus cast - Tyler Gallant, Kat Garcia and Victoria Paege. We will be showing Death By VHS on Saturday at the con and then we will be doing a special screening of Lepus right after along with a panel featuring cast and crew (by crew I mean David Sabal, as he was THE crew on this thing). We encourage you all to come out. It's gonna be fun.

As far as the rest of the con - I will be working my rather ample butt off trying to get more interviews for you all. I am excited about who I have had a chance to talk to in the past and I hope to move up to the next level for you all. Beyond that, I have several interviews I've conducted with the likes of Daniel Manche (star of Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door and I Sell The Dead), Jessica Cameron (director of the currently shooting Truth Or Dare), Andrew van den Houten (producer of Offspring, The Woman and the upcoming Jug Face) and more planned. But as for Phoenix Comicon I plan to try to do a Holodeck Malfuction Interview Special by interviewing any Trek people at the con that will let me and anyone else that says yes. I'm not gonna be picky.

After that we have some other great stuff set up for the rest of the year. We are going to be at a start-up Comic Convention in Ventura, CA called Central Coast Comic Con or C4 for short. Check out their website to see who they've lined up for the event. And we're gonna be back at Rapture Horror Expo again in October. They've already announced a few guests and it's gonna be a lot bigger than last year. If you live in the Phoenix Area it's gonna be a good one. Make sure you come out for that one.

I also want to thank you all for the support. And don't be afraid to talk to us from time to time. We'd love to hear what you think.

Volume 2 Issue 16

So here it is, the redux version of Issue 16, since Brian and technology don’t mix.

The boys kick off the show with a review of The Penitent Man starring Lance Henriksen and directed by Nicholas Gyeney. They then move into the news! It starts with some tax evasion and hate speech thanks to the Expendables, and then Brian gets angry that another show has been pulled before the first 10 episodes even air. A 90’s sitcom resurgence gets some attention, and Jacob tries to justify it.

Jacob and Brian disagree on who should be in Movie Jail thanks to joblo.com, but they definitely agree that the new TMNT movie is going to be a disaster.

Phoenix Comicon is coming, and a slew of new guests have been announced! Who is it that Jacob would go gay for? Tune in and find out!

The boys promised to give you the link from cracked.com, so here it is. Judge for yourself- http://www.cracked.com/article_20143_5-craziest-ways-men-have-censored-female-sexuality.html. A couple of Marvel actors get a mention, and then, of course, the show wouldn’t be a show without some bitching about Michael Bay.

Come give it a listen, that is, of course, assuming that Brian hasn’t fucked it up again.

Phoenix Film Festival 2013

Jacob went out to the Phoenix Film Festival and had the chance to speak to some interesting people. First, he talked to Peter Block, producer of Saw, Rambo and many other films. Peter also rund FEARnet, and had some great news about Reaper.

Jacob's next interview was with Natalie Imbruglia, who talked about music, acting and working in indie films.

His final interview was with the great Meg Foster (Masters of the Universe, They Live). They discussed some of her more obscure work, and even fielded a question from Jeff Dolniak from Cinema Head Cheese.

To see the video of the interviews, take a look at our YouTube Channel.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 7 - V-Ger, I Hardly Know 'Er

This week, Jacob and Isaac talk about Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Wrath Of Khan. They try to assign logic to why there were so many loooong shots of the camera circling the Enterprise. They couldn't come up with anything. They also can't figure out why Kirk seemed like such a serious douche bag and why Spock seemed depressed. They talk about  director Robert Wise, writer Alan Dean Foster, 7th Heaven, and Ricardo Mantalban's pecs.

It's a weird hour, but not as weird as next week when they bring you 23rd Century Economics.

Matt's Chance Special

Due to unforseen circumstances, Issue 16 was lost, so instead we have a special treat for you. Nicholas Gyeney and Edi Zanidache were kind enough to spend a fair amount of time talking to the boys recently in seperate phone interviews. Up first is Nicholas, director and co-writer of Matt's Chance. He and Jacob talked about everything from dealing with actors people believe to be difficult to Lance Heriksen to favorite movies.

After that, both Brian and Jacob did a phone interview with Edi Zanidache, co-writer and co-star of Matt's Chance. He talked to them about the real life Matt, what an e-cigarette fail is and stand-up comedy.

Matt's Chance is currently making the festival circuit. Check out their facebook page - www.facebook.com/MattsChance for more details on when and where you can find it. It stars Edward Furlong, Lee Majors, Margot Kidder, Gary Busey and Edi Zanidache.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 6 - Gorn Too Soon

This week, Jacob and Isaac discuss the first show since The Original Series to be cancelled. That's right, we're talking about Star Trek: Enterprise. They talk about how great Scott Bakula was, the time they both met Jeffrey Combs, the hotness of T'Pol and what alien race they'd most like to be with. There's also a strange discussion about Nazis, time travel and UFOs.

Next week begins talk of the movie franchise with V-Ger, I Hardly Knew 'Er.

Volume 2 Issue 15

In lieu of a review, in memory of Roger Ebert, the boys read his review of Milk Money that he wrote as two executives coming up with the idea for this "Family" film. Each of the guys takes on one of the roles and then get to the reading. Mr. Ebert, you will be missed.

The boys then tackle the news for the week, and you can tell Jacob is happy to have Brian back next to him in studio. He might not be the best trained monkey, but he sure can keep up, unlike the “guest host” from last week who Brian asks we not name here.

It was a pretty busy week for Jacob as well, with all the interviews that are going up on the page from the Phoenix Film Festival currently being held in, you guessed it, Phoenix. Jacob also ends the show with an interview that he got from the director of Night of the Sea Monkey: A Disturbing Tale, Michael Rodriguez, as well as some other special guests.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 5 - Voyager Of The Damned

Fresh off talking about Jacob's favorite Trek series, they move onto the one he wishes never existed. Isaac doesn't share his hatred. Far from it. He has many nice things to say. Over the episode, they discuss the recasting of Captain Janeway, the terrible Neelix, everyone's favorite Holographic Doctor and why the show sucked. Isaac once again offers up some trivia, and, strangely, Jacob does better than the last two shows he actually liked.

Stay Tuned next week for a discussion about Enterprise we like to call Gorn Too Soon.

Volume 2 Issue 14

Jacob and Taylor Made from Bank On Action start the show with a review of the movie April Fool’s Day (1986) starring Deborah Foreman and Griffin O’Neal and directed by Fred Walton.

After the review, Taylor does his best to fill in for Brian after the disaster that was the last issue by reading Jacob’s notes for the week’s news and interesting tidbits. He doesn’t do that well and after only 20 minutes a surprising turn of events happens.

We aren’t going to spoil it for you here so you better listen… oh, and Happy April Fool’s Day.
