Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 4 - Everybody Loves Dax

Deep Space Nine is Jacob's favorite Star Trek series, and he couldn't wait to talk about it. Isaac loves Weyoun and Tribbles. They both talk about what made the show so great, and what the hell they think was wrong with Terry Ferrell leaving the show in season six, why Jeffrey Combs deserves more credit and where season seven went wrong. Once again, Isaac finds some more obscure trivia to make Jacob look like a fool.

Stay tuned next week when they talk about Voyager in Voyager Of The Damned.

Upcoming Host Changes To The Gorram Nerd Hour

Hello everyone,

 Jacob here.

It is with a heavy heart that I'm writing this. Brian and I have tried to go on with the show like nothing has happened. But over the last few months it has become more and more difficult for us to work together. We hope you've enjoyed the show and we really hope we've done a good job at keeping our personal issues off the air...well, until now. If you haven't heard the latest episode,  volume 2 issue 13, things finally came to a head.

I'm not going to go into details here but I apologize as it was truly unprofessional of us to behave the way we did in the episode. Brian and I have worked out our issues and remain friends and writing partners on upcoming film projects but we have decided that it would be best to cease working together on this show. We don't know if this is a permanent or temporary split but the show will go on with myself and a new co-host. Until I find a person who is the right fit I will have others from the Abnormal crew taking turns with me on future episodes.

I promise to make sure it is as much the same show you've become accustomed to listening to as I do write ALL the show notes giving Brian funny things to say. So, what I'm trying to say is that a trained monkey could do Brian's job as long as he can read.

Speaking of trained monkeys - Taylor Made has agreed to co-host Volume 2 Issue 14 with me as he's always there when we record anyway because he was trying to learn from a professional without admitting it.  Also, if there are any other trained monkeys out there that are interested...let me rephrase...if there's any hot girls out there that want to audition I will be accepting emails with fully nude pictures. You will have to go through a rigorous audition process. I won't get into details but it involves super glue, a tennis racket, a ball gag, two bricks of dry ice and small dog (you choose the breed). Thank you again for listening. And please don't stop. I promise that whatever trained monkey I get will be just as entertaining.

Thanks again to Brian for the six months of showing up and reading. And make sure you tune in to his other show, The Atomic Fallout Society, where he shows up and  talks about reading.

Volume 2 Issue 13

The boys are back with Volume 2 Issue 13 of the show. First off, Jacob reviews The Frankenstein Theory alone, because Brian didn't watch it.

They quickly move into news about a possible Dinsey/Star Wars theme park. Good news for Jake Lloyd for sure, but how about the fans? Is it worth Disney branding everything in the Star Wars universe like they do with everything else?

Are the Late Night Wars about to start up again? Leno's on his way out. What does this mean for Late Night television? Will it get good again?

Is Tom Hanks going crazy? Is G.I. Joe: Retaliation worth seeing this weekend? Who should be the new Green Lantern in the Justice League movie? Is Will Smith a douche? Who belongs in movie jail, and who should go to death row? All that and more in the latest episode of The Gorram Nerd Half Hour.

Yes, we said half hour. We cut the recording short because Brian decided to act very unprofessionally and quit mid-show. Don't worry, Jacob will be back next week with a temporary co-host.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 3 - The Search For Crusher

Jacob and Isaac are back with an hour devoted to Star Trek: The Next Generation. In the episode they discuss everything from their favorite moments of the show to noteworthy guest stars. Isaac talks about how this was his gateway into Trek and how Mark Twain and bad VCR's helped that along.

Isaac spends a moment asking Jacob obscure trivia questions and they talk about the cultural impact the series had on technology. If Steve Jobs were alive he'd want to hear how he stole the idea of the iPad from 24th century.

Tune in next week when they talk about Deep Space Nine in Everybody Loves Dax.

Volume 2 Issue 12

Right from the start, the boys go deep inside The Hole from the mind of Joe Dante. (Sorry, mom.)

More remake/reboot news hit the web again this week, and a new prequel show, The Bates Motel, has finally aired. What will Brian and Jacob think of this? Listen to find out.

Do you remember the "Very Special Episodes" of a sitcom that would mentalfloss.com has a very disturbing list of some the "BEST”.

American Horror Story has given us their new subtitle, and Jacob seems really excited, but not as excited as he was for the new Jurassic Park 4 and his version of the script.

The biggest news of the week, of course, has to do with Veronica Mars and the Kickstarter campaign that shattered all records. Brian is less than impressed.

And finally, after taking a week off from the Felicia Day News category, it is back and might not be the best of news for the boys of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

Phase 2 - Electric Boogaloo

In the latest episode of Holodeck Malfunction, Jacob O'Neal and Isaac Hulke talk about the animated TV series of Star Trek from the 1970's. After spending a few minutes on that, they jump into the series that never was - Star Trek: Phase II. With 13 scripts written, sets built, and a cast in place, it's amazing this show didn't happen.

They quickly realize that 22 episodes of an animated show and another show that never happened isn't enough to fill an hour, so they take the last half hour of the show and just wing it. Somehow they still kept on track... probably becuase Brian wasn't there to derail them. They talked about all incarnations of the show as well as a fan film called Star Trek: Of Gods And Men.

Stay tuned for next week's episode - Star Trek: Yar's Revenge

Volume 2 Issue 11

It all starts with a review of Stake Land - a different kind of vampire film starring Connor Paolo and Nick Dimici. It might be low budget, but that doesn’t mean it’s low quality! The news comes next, and everyone from Sam Raimi to Michael Cera isn’t safe from the boys.  Kevin Smith gets blasted, yet again, in this issue, and the boys bring you a list of actors who just can’t seem to escape the role or roles that made them famous.

They end the hour talking about Jacob’s new job, and of course Brian has to have a couple stories as well. All this and more on this week’s issue of The Gorram Nerd Hour with Brian Smith and Jacob O’Neal.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 1 - Eugenics Warts

Never fear, Jacob O'Neal of The Gorram Nerd Hour and his old friend Isaac Hulke are here to talk about all things Star Trek, starting with the very first episode of their limited edition series Holodeck Malfunction. In this episode, they focus on the show that started it all - Star Trek: The Original Series.

In this episode they discuss their favorite episodes of TOS, and Jacob even tries to school Isaac on some trivia.

Stay tuned next week for Star Trek: Phase 2 - Electric Boogaloo.

Volume 2 Issue 10

The boys kick it off with a review of Paranormal Activity. The first one, not any of the multiple sequels. The latest news on the Justice League movie comes next, and boy is Warner Brothers trying hard to salvage this thing.

Those rumors of a Planet Hulk movie? Just rumors. Find out what Marvel has to say.

Jacob’s notes are a little outdated when it comes to the Evil Dead franchise, but they cover it anyway.

Anchorman 2 has announced some new cast members, and one of the new cast mates has the boys salivating.

And of course, The Gorram Nerd Hour wouldn’t be complete without a little Felicia Day news.

Listen now, and find out what you’ve missed!
