Volume 2 Issue 30 - This is the End

When we last left the Dynamic Duo, they were both lamenting about the lack of new material for the show. Will this week fare any better for the Trained Monkey and Mr. Rapey Face?

The Box Office report makes Jacob angry, and you don’t want to see him when he is angry. Actually this episode has Jacob angry through almost the entire thing, and Brian laments on how rare it is to actually hear Jacob laugh.

In movie news, Diablo Cody, 20th Century Fox, JJ Abrams, Eddie Murphy, and Butterfly Effect all get mentions. TV brings us Star Trek: TNG and the release of the 4th season on BluRay release as well as a new segment that Jacob has called “Hollywood Is Nuts!” And Jacob brings back the “Movies I hate but the general public adores” segment.

All this and more on this, the final issue of Volume 2 of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

What Do You Want? How About A Guest Spot On The Show?

Hello again,

Long time no type. Well, maybe not too long. I don't know. My barometer for telling time sucks. In fact I thought it was Friday until someone posted how much they hated Mondays on Facebook. At first I thought "That's on odd thing to post on a Friday. Why not wait until Mo...Oh."

The reason I have chosen to write you all today is simple. We want to know what you want from our show. We love doing it. But, even more, we love keeping it fresh. Back in Volume 2 Issue 5 we were joined by David Sabal from The Atomic Fallout Society for a segment called Bad Impression Theater. We loved doing that. In fact, we are planning another one. We love doing things like that. And we want your suggestions.

Do you enjoy us talking about entertainment news? Sometime we get a little bored with it. It's the same stuff every week. New Star Wars rumors, new Star Trek news, what did the idiot celebrity do this week? The list goes on. Sure, we enjoy it. I scour the internet every week for stories to fill in the notes. I'd be doing it with or without the show. But we would like to introduce more segments. Movies The World Loves But We Hate could be a fun recurring segment. But we need more.

Here's what I propose to you all. Whoever comes up with a new segment for the show that Brian and I both agree is best we will invite you on where we will not only have you participate in Bad Impression Theater but we will do the new segment you came up with for the first time with you. We want to hear your feedback. We appreciate you all listening as we approach one year of episodes. Now let us give back as we steal your idea for a pittance. Send all ideas to gorrampodcast@gmail.com

Your Friend And Mine,

Jacob O'Neal

P.S. - If you want to be on the show you must either be local or have a phone. We will not provide airfare. We're podcasters.

Jacob Reviews "Star Trek Continues"

Vic Mignogna, best known for his anime voice work in Bleach and Naruto, takes on the iconic role of Captain Kirk while continuing the original Star Trek series on as if it got a fourth season. He assembles a group of recognizable names together and begins a new season of Star Trek. Does it work? You're about to hear Jacob's opinion on it.

Jacob Has A Conversation With Bill Oberst Jr.

Bill Oberst Jr. is back. Jacob and Brian first met him at Rapture Horror Expo last October. You can hear that conversation on Vol 1 Issue 4. This time they talk about french kissing corpses, Star Trek, Ricardo Mantalban's chest and a lot more.

Volume 2 Issue 29

Dennis Farina has passed away, and it seems that every week the guys are commiserating another celebrity passing.

Joss Whedon has told us that there will be no Hank Pym in the new Age of Ultron movie. What?!

12 Monkeys is coming to the small screen, and all Jacob can ask is “Why?”

The new Freddie Mercury biopic looks like a reality, but Sasha Baron Cohen won’t be playing the frontman of the legendary band Queen. Brian is thanking the rock gods right now.

A Fight Club sequel? Sure, why the fuck not? Oh, the boys know why not. It’s going to be TERRIBLE!

Shortlist.com brings us another Top 10 list, but this time from the minds of none other than Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

And it looks like there’s going to be about another 50 years of Supernatural. Jacob is not pleased.

SDCC was this past weekend, and the biggest news was definitely the Batman/Superman movie. Brian seemed more pleased than Jacob, but of course it isn’t coming out until 2015, so LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!

To finish off the show this week, Jacob gives you 10 minutes of his interview with actor Bill Oberst Jr., from such work as Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies and Take This Lollipop. The full conversation will be available on Friday.

As always, thanks for listening!

Jacob Reviews "Odd Thomas"

There are certain directors Jacob really doesn't like - Uwe Boll, Renny Harlin, Michael Bay and too many more to list. He's never been a fan of director Stephen Sommers. Does Odd Thomas sway his opinion? Or does Jacob add him to the list?

The movie stars Anton Yelchin, Willam Dafoe, Addison Tamblin and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and based on a novel by Dean R. Koontz. Will this film be better than Phantoms, or will it fall even further down into Corey Haim depths like Watchers? (You thought I was gonna make some kind of tasteless death joke about Corey Haim, didn't you?)

Volume 2 Issue 28

The boys both like to make fun of Glee, but not today. Sadness struck the other day when news of Corey Monteith's death in Canada surfaced. He was only 31.

It seems that the Pom Far is affecting Zach Quinto’s brain, and his claims about the next installment of Star Trek may be a little off.

What the hell is a Sharknado?

Weekend box office was a little sad this past weekend. Despicable Me 2 took the #1 spot once again, which is fine. It's a family film. Fine. We get it. But Grown Ups 2 was #2 forcing Pacific Rim to the #3 slot.

With the Cornetto trilogy coming to a close, Edgar Wright is all ready to start on Ant Man!

Kanye West is an idiot, and SDCC is right around the corner. What more could you ask for?

espressogossip.com has a list of movie posters doctored to show the original actors cast before the change. Go look that the list. It's worth it.

Jacob brings you a new segment to end the show, and Brian calls him out for his inability to fill time.

All this and a whole lot more on this episode of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

Check Out Jacob's New Show - The Science Of Fiction

Hello there everyone,

Jacob here. Isaac Hulke and I had a lot of fun doing the Gorram spin-off show Holodeck Malfunction. That was a limited series of thirteen episodes. There may actually be more to come in the future where we talk in detail about Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Continues. But, for now, we have decided to bring you a new show called The Science Of Fiction.

The idea behind the show was simple. We wanted to discuss famous works of Science Fiction, their authors, movies and whatever else. What many of these people have posited over the years has become less fiction and more science. With cloning now a reality, cell phones being common place, robots being used in every day life this seemed like a show worth making.

In the future we will be discussing such ideas as cloning, teleportation, time travel and much more. But we also want to hear your thoughts on what we should be talking about. Let us know what you think. We'd love to hear from you on the subject. You can send the suggestions to our new Facebook page http://facebook.com/SciFiPod or email us at gorrampodcast@gmail.com

Thank you everyone. Hugs and kisses to you all.

Love,

Jacob

Jacob Reviews Asylum's "Atlantic Rim"

It was only fitting that Asylum would release a new mockbuster called Atlantic Rim right before Guillermo Del Toro unleashes his Pacific Rim to the world. This mockbuster stars the likes of David Chokachi from Baywatch, Treach from Naughty By Nature and Graham Greene from Dances With Wolves. Give Jacob's review a listen. And if you choose to watch Atlantic Rim, rest assured that even if Pacific Rim sucks, it'll be 1000x better than this.

Jacob Reviews "Sharknado"

Sharknado, a SyFy original movie about sharks flying around inside tornadoes to attack people on land stars Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills, 90210), Tara Reid (American Pie) and John Heard (C.H.U.D.). Need we say more? Jacob watches it so you don't have to.

Volume 2 Issue 27

When last we left our intrepid Gorram heroes, Brian was complaining about Jacob's creepy notes, and Jacob blamed it on nearly suffering heat stroke from sitting in the blazing sun for two weeks straight. Will this week fair better for The King Of Fuck and Captain Creepy? Stay tuned to find out.

What the hell is wrong with Eddie Murphy? Kevin Smith and Ryan Reynolds have projects on the horizon (maybe), and it leads into a talk about Idiocracy. Stallone’s new project is one of Brian favorites, and he and Jacob have a little bit to say about that. It’s a Celebrity Douchebag list!

The boys did have to cut the show short as Brian had to play daddy for his daughter, and she didn’t want to be on the show, but they do talk a little about their upcoming projects and a favorable review for Lepus!

Jacob Reviews "Night Of The Demons (2009)"

As promised, Jacob begins doing mini-Gorram episodes. These are where you are going to find movie reviews, because Brian doesn't like to watch the ones Jacob picks.

This week, he talks about the remake of Night Of The Demons from 2009 starring Shannon Elizabeth, Edward Furlong and Monica Keena with a special appearance by Linnea Quigley from the original.

Volume 2 Issue 26

The boys are back with your weekly dose of all things geek, and they start off the show in remembrance of Jim Kelly and James Gandolfini. They move on to the rumor mill and Hellboy 3.

ID4EVER garners a mention, and Brian doesn’t seem too happy about it. Jacob complains about the action (or lack thereof) in The Walking Dead TV show and what he thinks will happen in Season 4.

Stan Lee made some comments about Marvel Movies, and there may be some truth to it. Oh yeah, and Christian Bale says he won’t be Batman anymore! (Again.)

Jacob’s notes this week were tainted by the heat, and his jokes about the weekly box office numbers show it. He also gives you a ton of horrible puns when he talks about Bond, James Bond. We get an insight into the twisted, perverted sexual fantasies of Mr. O’Neal as well.

Digital comics and 80’s television favorites! What could possibly go wrong??!!!

The Gorram Nerd Hour has a public service announcement for Thora Birch. Ms. Birch, please, please, please take us at our word.
