Volume 2 Issue 25

RIP Richard Matheson.

The boys are joined this week by their fearless leader, Kevin Moyers, and they kick things off right by talking crazy celebrity baby names. Thank you, Kanye and the Devil.

Jim Carrey isn’t man enough to put his money where his mouth is, but boy does that mouth talk a lot. Granted, he can’t put his money up any longer as the budget for the new Dumb and Dumber movie was revealed, and it’s about the same as what he was paid for his role in the first one.

World War Z lost the box office race to a prequel from Pixar, and the boys lament at what the Z-word used to mean. Also, the Governator has decided to go down the rabbit hole and star in his own zombie movie (sort of). Downey Jr. made headlines as well as he has signed on to be in the next two installments of the Avengers franchise.

Disney may have hit it out of the park with the new Pixar movie, but the live action Cinderella looks to leave a little to be desired.

The guys end the show after discussing who would make a good Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2 and a couple of stories from Brian about his trip to Vegas.

Time To Mix Things Up - New Changes

For those of you who are regular listeners to the show, you've probably noticed that there has been a lack of movie reviews lately. There's a reason for that. Brian and I both do multiple shows and work regular jobs. Time is limited  when it comes down to actually sitting down and watching these B movies I have such an affection for.

We came up with a solution - as much as I live to make Brian suffer I will no longer be making him watch films like Nazis At The Center Of The Earth. Instead I will be recording weekly supplemental episodes no longer than 10 minutes where I will be reviewing bad movies, indie movies, horror and science fiction movies, etc...

I already have a list of films I have recently watched that I have been holding onto until the time was right. This will be starting very soon. You will be able to find them under The Gorram Nerd Hour banner just like the regular show, Holodeck Malfunction and the Drunken Commentary as well as some other stuff in the planning stages.

If you haven't gotten distracted by something shiny yet and stopped reading I would like to  mention a few other things -
1) Lepus, the short film I co-wrote with Brian and directed will be released on DVD September 19th, 2013 on the Death By VHS anthology DVD.
2) We a couple of road trips scheduled. First to Ventura, California in September to podcast and interview guests at the Central Coast Comic Con (C4). Then we will be at Rapture Horror Expo in October and Comikaze.
3) We have a few other movie projects in the works, some can be discussed and others not yet. We are planning to make Lepus into a full length feature. If you happened to catch it at Phoenix Conicon you know we made a 15 minute feature with a full three act structure already. Now we're just expanding on the building blocks we already put in place.
4) Cinema Head Cheese recently celebrated their 100th episode. In it one of their writers told the listeners to interact with us. We are very approachable...as long as you don't do the creepy Edward watching Bella sleep thing. That's just messed up but I guess girls like pasty old stalkers that would just as soon kill them as they would kiss them.
Side note - ladies,  I'm not over 100 but I can do creepy and I'm single. Just don't be a mouth breathing whore void of personality like Bella.
Sorry, the blog got away from me for second.
We will keep you posted on all of these things and more. Just listen to the show.
Your friend and mine,
Jacob O'Neal

Volume 2 Issue 24

The boys were going to start with a review of The Complex starring an Adam Green look-alike and a chesty young lady, but that was trumped by the saddening news of the passing of James Gandolfini. They take a moment to reflect on the 51-year-old actor's career and mourn in their own way.

They follow up the review with some super hero movie news and the projections of Steven Spielberg in regards to the nature of the movie going experience in the years to come.

Ryan Reynolds is out as the next Highlander, and Jacob thinks this movie franchise may go the way of The Crow; a lot of talk and rumors, but no actual product.

Volume 2 Issue 23

The boys start with a review of In The Devil's Courthouse, a DVD that was personally handed to them at Phoenix Comicon by the Director.

Next up is the news. Hercules and Frankenstein are getting new retellings, and the boys have some choice words for Hollywood. Cusack and Jane are teaming up, and it might all be roses or it could be shit. The boys aren’t sure which to vote for yet. Amazing Spider-Man 2 has yet another villain, and it looks like Sony hasn’t learned anything from Spider-Man 3.

The Man of Steel is right around the corner, and Brian can barely contain his excitement. Jacob wants to take a road trip to Detroit, and Brian is scared for his safety.

The Purge surprised at the box office this weekend, and Hollywood is confused. A movie about a DotCom that didn’t do well in theaters? Yeah, it isn’t 1999 anymore.

Dr. Who fans will love the next little bit, and the boys finish with good news about Paul Walker?
You’ll have to listen to find out.

Volume 2 Issue 22

The boys start off with the TV news, and there are some strange things brewing in TV Land. What’s the newest from the world of Community? What is going on with Doctor Who? Why the hell doesn’t SyFy run science fiction entertainment anymore? What ever happened to space in Sci-Fi programming?

Movie news brings us some of Brian’s favorite topics (not really). Expendables 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, and James Bond all have new casting announcements. After Erf, as Jacob calls it, bombed at the box office, and no one was surprised. Blade Runner 2 is a thing.

Holodeck Malfunction: Episode 13 - Welcome To The Multiverse

In the final Official episode of Holodeck Malfunction, Jacob and Isaac discuss the 2009 reboot of the Star Trek franchise. They go into each character and the new actors playing them, discuss the ideas of branching timelines, Libyans and plutonium, farting through time and whatever else comes up.

This closes the chapter on Holodeck Malfunction proper. But if you want more, we may be back after awhile with occasional interviews or even a show here and there.
